Well today is what would be my mothers birthday. My mom left us to go on to her heavenly father 13 years ago tomorrow. I think of my mom all the time, and still find myself thinking call mom she will know the answer to whatever is on my mind. She was such a great mom, patient, kind, and wise. She was creative, and loved to read. Which is where I got my love for both reading and creating. My mom's laugh was contagious, I can remember many times her trying not to laugh and just shaking and we would all end up laughing and of course getting in trouble for laughing at whatever she was trying not to laugh at. My mom was such as special person, she raised 5 children most of the time by herself because my dad worked all the time, most of the time at least 2 jobs if not more, so my mom had to handle everything on her own. She was a lover of children and animals, and taught me how to swim when she didn't even know how to swim herself. After she taught me, she finally went and took swimming lesson herself.
If you are blessed to still have your mom, don't take her for granted, make sure you always tell her you love her, and don't waste time being angry. Love her and know that there is no love like a mothers love!
Happy Birthday Mom!! I miss you!
I feel as if I could have written this post.
ReplyDeleteMy mother has been gone for 44 years now. Seems like a lifetime but the missing is still there.
For years I had the urge to pick up the phone and call her about something only to realize I couldn't.
Bless you for carrying such wonderful memories of your mother and for sharing them with us. How special are we to see into your heart.
And happy birthday dear mother.
Hugs, Karen

I saw your post and I just had to respond. My Mom has been gone 6 1/2 years and it seems like yesterday she was just here. I feel the same way about wanting to call her. Then I remember I can't. She was a very special person and she raised us three kids practically by herself, as my dad worked all the time too. Our moms are in our hearts and will always be remembered. Just remember, this life is short and we will all be together again one day.

I also saw your post and had to tell you how much I miss my mom too! She passed away at the age of 57 on Valentine's Day 13 years ago and today is the day 2 years ago my Mother-in-Law passed away on Easter Day. I get very lonely at times missing them both dearly, but I just try to remember all our good times and it makes me smile. It was so hard the first Mother's Day after my mom passed ~ I was shopping and seen the crowds gathered around the Mother's Day cards and I felt so left out and alone. So I went over and picked her out one. It was hard trying to read the verses thru my tears. Every Mother's Day since then I leave one where she rests. I know some might think it's strange, but it just makes me feel good to do it.
ReplyDeleteI am sending you BIG hugs today and know that I am thinking about you. I know how very difficult it can be as a daughter to loose our Moms. No matter how much time passes, the emptiness inside never goes away. I lost my Mom last October so it hasn't been a year yet and it is so, so hard to be without her.
ReplyDeleteTake comfort in all of your wonderful memories of your time together.
Blessings, Traci
Oh Karen and all of those that have commented, my heart pours out to you. I miss my dad with everyday that goes by. I still have my mom, but I do know what it is like to miss a parent.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your day with us Karen
big hugs to you.

I still have my mom, however she is a nursing home now with dementia. One of the hardest things a person will ever have to do. I am sorry for your sadness. Happy Birthday to your mom.

My heart goes out to you today. I was only 25 when I lost my mom at the age of 57. It;s been 26 years since then and not a day goes by when I don't miss her. Cherish the memories you have. No one can take them from you. Hugs go out to you during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteJust read this post about your mother and I had to respond. I think you have written this for so many of us that have lost our mothers. I lost my mother last February. And I still feel the need to pick up the phone, if only to hear her sweet voice. She also raised 5 children most of the time by herself too. My father worked long hours, so she could stay at home with her children. She was a woman of great strength, a gently nature, and full of kindness for others. She always found the good in every situation. My brother died from cancer when he was 25. My mother had to lay to rest her child on her birthday. I still don't know how she ever got the strength to do it. There is not a day goes by that I don't think of her and the cherised memories I have to reflect upon. Your Mother sounds like a beautiful woman. I am sending many hugs and blessing to you. Our loved ones will remain in ou hearts forever.
