Antique/Flea Market Finds

I got a late start today, I had wanted to get up early and hit the yard sales and flea markets, and of course a few of the antique stores in my area. I do have to say that we have a lot of antique stores around here, but a lot o them are very expensive to say the least! There is one antique store that is real close to my house, but it isn't opened daily and you have to sort of hit and miss on getting in there. Well today it was a hit! I found an awesome crock, a wooden bowl, and a bobbin all for $20.00. The crock doesn't have any markings but I love it and the price was right. The bowl has a train iniside and is stamped CO 5 Railway NH. The flea market find was a butter churn.. I know it's not an old one but it will look great once I paint it and distress it. I got jug type crock there too and a wooden rocking horse.I almost forgot that I found two lanterns too still in the package, that I am going to prim up and have my hubby wire for electric candles. All and all I'm happy with my new goodies.

Two New Raggedy's
I have been working on these two raggedy's while I was waiting for my sculpted doll to dry. I just love the way they turned out. They have needle felted hair, which I think is my favorite way to do doll hair these days!

My First Clay Sculpted Doll Face
I have been wanting to try this for awhile now, and read a few tutorials on how to do paper clay sculpting on a doll. Well after dragging my feet, and finally getting the nerve up to give this a go, I sat down a few days ago and started her. It's been a few days working on her, with dry time for the clay, sanding and adding more clay, sanding some more, painting, needle felting her hair and then of course making her dress. I am pretty happy with the way she came out for a first try, and now I have another one in the works. I think this is something that I will continue to do and continue to figure out how to sculpt faces better. But as I said I think I did OK for a first try.

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to all those Dads out there! I was very blessed to have a wonderful father all be in only for 21 years :(  that was always my knight in shining armor! My dad was a hard worker, not wanting my mom to ever have to work outside of the home. I can remember my dad holding down several jobs at one time to make ends meet for our family of 5 kids. He was a man that was a friend to everyone and had a smile that could melt your heart. How I still long to be held in his arms knowing that he would always be there for me. I was his Karrie Bear, his baby, and the spitting image of his mother. I miss you dad!

I have now grown up and have been married to my wonderful husband Bill for almost 20 years. He has so many characteristics of my father, that it's no wonder why I fell in love with him! This is both of our second marriages, and he took my 2 children in as his own. We never did the step dad thing we were just a family. I am very blessed that I was given 2 more children by him and 5 more came with him. We have 10 grand children, and he is a proud Pa Pa to them all.  We have are still making memories with our children and now our grand children... here's to you Bill Happy Fathers Day!

I have to add a Happy Fathers Day to the newest daddy in the family, Jimmy. Happy Fathers Day honey! Cherish every moment of being a father! Time passes much too quickly and in a blink they are grown and having kids of their own :)

Betsy Ross
I made this in honor of all the service men and women! I come from a family of those who have served their country. My father served on the USS Missouri during WW ll and was there during the signing of the peace treaty, my husband served during Vietnam. I have six boys and three of them have served with one currently in the Marines. I do have to say he wears the uniform well and I am one proud mom!

Summer Smiles

Here are a few oldies but goodies that I have made in the past. I want to put together a few of the raggedy flowers for my back porch.

Great Saturday!
I had a wonderful day today! My husband aand I went to  Arts by the Sea in downtown Swansboro, and saw so many wonderful things! I did pick up a wonderful birdhouse made by Carolina Creek.  She is located out of Fayetteville, so if you ever get a chance to see her work you will be thrilled by her wonderful creations! After the festival, we headed to the thrift store and I found some wonderful goodies, including a hanging quilt rack, a pine coffee table, and some other odds and ends. I have a lot of sanding to do tomorrow! I am just hoping it is a bit cooler tomorrow, these 90 + days are just too much for me! I hope I will have some photos to post tomorrow, of some finished crafts. Have a great Sunday everyone!

A few of my favorite pieces

I just love to paint prim Americana! Here are a couple of my favorite pieces that I have done.

New projects in the works!

I went thift shopping the other day, and picked up a few goodies. I snatched up a bunch of baskets, as well as a peg board shelf, wooden magazine holder, and a wooden tool tote. I had some things in my stash, that I have gotten primed and ready to start painting this evening. So be looking for a coffee pot and tea pot redo! If the weather holds up tomorrow I will be sanding and priming my magazine rack. I can hardly wait to get started. I also have a few dolls in the works, that are still waiting for faces and clothes, so keep your eyes opened for my latest creations!
