Mystical Characters

This last piece took me some time to create! I had a certain vision in my head as to what I wanted her to look like and I really took my time. From changing facial features, and changing her clothing, and adding little touches such as her earrings, lace collar, and distressing her skirt to be slightly torn and frayed at the hem until I finally was semi satisfied with how she looked.  I say semi satisfied because I am always striving to be better, to learn more and to continue to learn. I want to convey my love for creating in each and every piece I make and have it show that I put a little extra tlc into making each piece. I hope you enjoy her! Meet Grandma Troll.

The Characters in my mind

There are no better memories than the childhood stories that my mother would tell me. She was a great story teller, and if I close my eyes I can almost hear her changing her voice for each character as she read to me.

My mother read stories of Trolls, fairies, leprechauns and so many other fantasy characters. She made them all seem so real. So with her on my mind lately, I pulled out my clay and started a new line of fantasy characters. So far I have created a fairy, grandpa troll, a leprechaun, and a baby troll that is  hitching a ride on a turtles back. More characters are coming to life in my studio and I can almost hear them whispering, that they are in need of clothes, or shoes.  I hope you enjoy my latest pieces, and be on the look out for new ones to come. I am loving having my hands in clay! If you are interested in purchasing any of these pieces stop by my web site

So many projects so little time

Oh my goodness! I swear my brain is like a computer with 1000 tabs opened! There are so many things that I want to make and so little time to do them! I love working in so many different mediums!  I love fabric, paint, clay, mesh and so much more! I have patterns scattered all over my work tables of things to make, and 2 different clay projects in the works. I did manage to finish a sweet Raggedy Ann. I believe she is my favorite doll that I have ever made. And  I finished a sweet clay elephant.

I have a sweet leprechaun in the works, this guy still needs some clothes but he is coming together nicely.

I have also started a new line called Memaw's Monsters. These would make great gifts for a tween.

And of course I'd like to invite you to stop by my facebook page for live tutorials and to see what's new!

Happenings at Cedar Creek Primitives

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! The new year is right around the corner, and exciting things are in the works here at Cedar Creek Primitives! I will be sharing more live tutorials on Facebook, sharing on Youtube, and I will be having on line classes!

As you know I create in several different mediums, from fabric, paint, and clay just to name a few. I am always looking to expand my knowledge in all areas of creating and love to share them with you.

Last year was a busy year with two moves under my belt, and setting up my studio twice and trying to get back into the swing of things once we settled in. Knowing that this place is temporary until we can find our forever home here in Ohio can be a bit overwhelming at times, know that there will be another move in the near future. Hopefully we will find the perfect place, with a nice backyard and room for everyone, my studio and a guest bedroom for when my  kids and grand children come to visit.

So for now if you would care to see any of my live videos you can stop by my facebook page to view them. I have also opened a web site  so you can purchase my folk art.

Start of a New Week

Wow Were Does The Time Go?

Geeze I can't believe that another week has gone by! I must be getting old because time just seems to fly by lately!
Last week I worked on a new clay piece. I love the way it came out, and will be listing it for sale in the next couple of days. I am having so much fun working with clay! I'm glad I bought a case of it so I won't run out anytime soon. Here are the latest clay pieces that I have finished.

I am still working in fabric and finished this Annie

My brain is on overdrive with all the things that I want to make, both in clay and in fabric! I am excited about creating for fall and winter! They are my favorite seasons to create for, and my favorite times of the year!

Wishing you all a wonderful week!!

Changes are coming!

I'm so excited for the upcoming changes in so many things! The first big change is we are planning our move  to Ohio!! I am looking forward to having four seasons again!!! The beautiful fall leaves and SNOW!!! Yes I said the four letter word that so many of you dread! But for me it is something that I have longed for since we moved to North Carolina! I that so many of you dread the "S" word. But for me I miss the beauty of the snow on the trees, and the crunch of snow under my feet. I also miss snow at Christmas time!  I know with snow comes the cold, and the shoveling, slippery roads etc. but I'm up for that!

Another big change for my family is that my son and his family are making a huge move to Alaska! I am going to miss them so much. But he needs to follow his dreams.

Mikey has graduated kindergarten!! Where does the time go?? He has excelled in both math and reading! (I can't believe all the things that are taught in kindergarten these days!)

The other big change is with my business! Not only will I be creating but I will also be doing virtual classes! This is going to be so fun to be able to see and talk with you all as you create a paper clay piece. (that is my first class) I will be adding other classes along the way, as well as making more doll patterns. I have a stack of patterns that need to be written out, and I will be starting on that in the next couple of weeks. If you are interested in signing up of my first class you can do so at Paperclay Ghost Class Or Email me at: cedarcreekprimitives@gmail.com
